About Us
Here I am going to tell you just a little more about my family and me. We are located in the small town of Monticello, Indiana, in the middle of nowhere! Our family owns 300 acres of woods connected to our property with a creek running through it where they love to swim and cool off during the hot summers. Growing up my family had a black lab named Cooper who was the origin of my love for labs. When I was 12 years old I told my parents about my passion for the breed and the goals I had for my program. It took years of learning, failing, and asking thousands of questions, but I am now living my dream by bringing healthy, sound, dogs into this world who's temperaments reflect the standard of the breed. I still have mountains to climb and so much to learn, but help from mentors who have been involved in Labrador Retrievers for 30+ years have been extremely helpful and eye opening. I am a student at Purdue University, and plan to continue this program all through my adult life. I am so thankful for the opportunities I have that help make this all possible.
I have always had a passion for Labrador Retrievers! Everything about the breed intrigues me from their uniquely webbed paws to the complex genetic makeup that gives them their three beautiful colors. As a result of this passion, I strive to do my part in preserving what everyone adores about this breed. The number one thing labs are known for is their eager to please temperament. This sweet disposition is a result of both genetics and impression at a young age. This is why the weeks they are with me are so important in shaping the rest of their lives!! I stay up to date on new research suggesting different socialization and development techniques (current examples being ENS and the "rule of sevens"), while still having careful biosecurity measures in place.
Another thing I love about Labrador Retrievers is the competition in the show ring. The show ring for labs is extremely competitive. I was involved in showing swine in 4-h and national shows all around the country since I was in early elementary school. I love the relationships you form, the hours of work that pay off when you're in the ring, the nerves you feel before stepping in with your animal, the bond you create when working with them, and the memories I will remember forever. Stay tuned for more show updates!!
